A straightforward plan for merchandise, utilities, landlord approval, and loading access. Use this guide before you request a quote so the removal provider can understand the material, access, and timing.
Clear merchandise first
Remove products, price labels, customer records, keys, and point-of-sale equipment before the pickup window. A fixture should be empty and released by the store before it enters the removal pile.
Confirm what belongs to the landlord
Built-in counters, slatwall, lighting, and anchored displays may be landlord property or part of the lease. Get written approval before detaching anything fixed to the building.
Disconnect utilities through the right trade
A junk-removal crew should not disconnect live electrical, gas, plumbing, refrigeration, or data systems unless that work is separately qualified and approved. Have the appropriate contractor make fixtures safe first.
Plan around customers and deliveries
Choose a window that limits conflict with store traffic. Reserve the loading area, identify the service entrance, and keep the public route separated from removal work.
Match fixture sections to the doorway
Measure assembled fixtures and the narrowest point on the exit path. Photograph hidden fasteners and note glass, sharp edges, casters, or unusually heavy components.
Questions to ask the provider
- Is every material type on the list accepted?
- What access information could change the crew or equipment plan?
- Should anything be boxed, emptied, or disconnected before arrival?
- How will the on-site quote and approval work?
- What happens if the actual load differs from the photos?
